PINEWOOD AND NATURE

The pinewood of Rosolina Mare

A luxuriant 9 km pine forest reaches Rosolina Mare, mainly formed by maritime pine. In the 1950s, the forest was reforested to defend itself against strong sea winds.

Over time, the forest became very dense and many varieties grew. If you want to breathe fresh air and regenerate yourself, take a walk in this pine wood!

Botanic Garden of Porto Caleri

The Botanic Garden of Porto Caleri is a unique place of its kind, it’s extended along a surface of 44 hectares and since 1991 protects and preserves its nature, which is rich in plants and wild animals.

The garden is characterized by different habitats: from the sea to the lagoon, from the sand dune to the forest, it is possible to find variety but also a perfect balance.

The symbols of the Botanic Garden are the wild orchid, some rare amphibians and the "Fratino" a small bird that lives on the beach.

Fishing and hunting valleys

Exclusive and reserved, created by the Venetian nobility, the fishing and hunting valleys cover eight thousand hectares and are complex systems of clear, brackish water lakes inhabited by precious fish and colourful water birds.
Seagulls, herons, marsh harriers, black-winged stilts and other small birds can be admired flying and feeding on a veil of water.

Each area or "Valle" has a "casone", a stately home used for hunting and fishing. Mullet, sea bass, gilthead bream and eel are reared in these waterways bordered by embankments, while hunting, which is practised during the migratory flow, is mainly of ducks.

Pink Flamingos

Elegant and majestic white and pink birds have found their natural habitat in the Po Delta and in the marshes of Rosolina.

Since the 90s, numerous colonies of pink flamingos nest, find peace, tranquility and plenty of food in our territory. They have become so permanent all year.

Man and Biosphere - MAB UNESCO

In June 2015, the Po Delta Park, thanks to its high environmental value, has been recognized as "Biosphere Reserve" within the UNESCO MAB Program.
